I remember when I want to start my own business. I really don’t know what I want to sell. My friends gave me some good idea but it won’t catch my interest. Then my business mentor has teach me about Google Trend. Did you know that Google Trends is a powerful tool for identifying market trends and finding products to sell? You can make you can make data-driven decisions to choose products that are in demand by analyzing search interest and trends over time. I use this tool at the early state of OrkedLab development. Here, I would like to share the step-by-step guide on how to use Google Trends effectively:


1. Visit Google Trends

Browse Google Trends and sign in. Signing in is needed to allows you to save your searches and access more features.


2. Google Trends: Start with Broad Search Terms

  1. Enter Initial Keywords: Begin by entering broad keywords related to the product categories you’re interested in. For example, if I am interested in health products, I start with keywords like “vitamins” or “fitness equipment.” At the beginning, I had an idea selling health product under OrkedLab and i use keyword dumbbell but I not proceed further for OrkedLab.
  2. Explore the Results: Google Trends will show you a graph of interest over time, geographic distribution, and related queries.

3. Google Trends: Analyze Search Interest Over Time

  1. Examine Trends: Look at the graph showing in the Google Trends search interest over time. A rising trend in the Google Trends indicates growing interest, while a flat or declining trend suggests decreasing interest.
  2. Compare Time Frames: Use the date range filter to compare trends over different periods. This helps you understand whether the interest is seasonal or consistent.

4. Google Trends: Compare Multiple Keywords

  1. Add Comparison: Use the “Compare” feature to add more keywords in Google Trends. This allows you to see how different products or categories stack up against each other.
  2. Analyze Comparisons: Determine which products have higher or more consistent search interest in Google Trends. This can guide you towards more promising products.

5. Explore Geographic Data in Google Trends

  1. View Regional Interest: Google Trends provides a heat map showing where the search interest is highest. This information is valuable if you’re targeting specific regions.
